She will now take on an ambitious ocean-going deep-sea fishing and conservation programme as part of the Owner’s BAD COMPANY fleet. 

The vessel's design and performance have been meticulously tailored to cater to the Owner's preferences. BAD COMPANY SUPPORT 175 will not only serve as fast support to the fleet, she will also operate as a main hub for Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Ocean based activities providing a technical and functional base for equipment and dedicated programmes as well as long and short term onboard living and accommodation facilities for the Owner and his specialist crew.

Throughout the project, communication with the Owner's representative, Neil Emmott, has been open and transparent, ensuring effective collaboration and understanding of the Owner's specific requirements. Neil Emmott explains: “In pursuit of a lifelong dream, the Owner's involvement has been crucial in shaping the project, with enhancements based on his personal and very specific requests, such as accommodating a game boat, including a helicopter hangar, adding a custom jacuzzi, transforming the main deck lounge into a dedicated strategy meeting room, and integrating a Starlink antenna for improved connectivity.”

Everyone present at the Damen Yachting build facility in Antalya were treated to a much anticipated first look at this Yacht Support's unique colour scheme: her striking sky-blue hull aligns with the ambitious and bold programme this support yacht will undertake and inspired by the Owner's dedication to preserving the marine environment and passion for motor racing. “You can sleep on it, fly off of it and move it. For us the Yacht Support is a platform that enables us to do all the incredible things we wanted to do,” Tommy Allen, Owner YS53 FIVE OCEANS. 

Rob Dolling, Founder & CEO at VERPEKA DOLLING Superyachts, the Monaco-based yacht sales and charter company, proudly assisted the Owner with the sale, project managed the build on the Owner’s side and will manage the vessel’s onward operation, commented, “This new, next generation Yacht Support platform is very well thought out and engineered, presenting the perfect platform for the ambitious global plans the Owner has for FIVE OCEANS. All our requests and changes, some admittedly quite elaborate, were always well received and seamlessly integrated with precision into the impressive end result.”

YS53 FIVE OCEANS incorporates two decades of successful Yacht Support experience, showcasing a deep understanding of high-end yacht operations, global adventure lifestyles, and outstanding technical solutions. Jan van Hogerwou, Commercial Executive at Damen Yachting, has worked with the Owner on this project since the outset. “We are proud to be launching this very special 53-metre Yacht Support today. Seeing her out in the open and ready for the final stages of her build before her delivery just a couple of months from now is the start of something truly exciting." 



Launch of the second Yacht Support 53

On May 25, 2023, in Antalya, Turkey, the Owner of the first 53-metre Yacht Support (YS 5301) witnessed his brand-new yacht hit the water for the first time.

On May 25, 2023, in Antalya, Turkey, the Owner of the first 53-metre Yacht Support (YS 5301 [/en/fleet-of-yachts/bad-company-support]) witnessed his brand-new yacht hit the water for the first time. The new yacht was designed entirely by Damen Yachting and constructed at the builder’s facility in Turkey.

The 53-metre (175ft) YS 5301 was sold to her Owner, Anthony Hsieh, in May 2022 and will be delivered in 2024 under the name BAD COMPANY SUPPORT. The new yacht will replace the Owner’s current 46-metre YS 4508 Yacht Support, named BAD COMPANY SUPPORT, built by Damen Yachting in 2019 and sold to Anthony Hsieh in 2021.

The YS 53 range was introduced to the market in February 2022 as a strategic shift in Damen Yachting’s Yacht Support approach. The range represents the next generation of Yacht Support vessels and is inspired by the 17+ Yacht Support vessels built by Damen Yachting over the last decade. The design is both highly flexible and customisable to deliver the most fun and engaging set-up for any Owner.

Joining the growing group of innovative Yacht Support owners, the Owner will use YS 5301 as a mothership to his well-established fleet, named Bad Company. The Bad Company fleet is well-known for its modern sports fishing missions and can currently be found on a world tour. In supporting sports fishing, the Owner is involved in several marine conservation projects in remote locations across the planet such as those initiated by the Coastal Conservation Association of California.

YS 5301 features a huge 15-tonne deck crane and is fully IMO Tier III compliant to reduce harmful emissions by 70% for full-range operations. Her two main engines can deliver speeds of up to 19 knots.

Once delivered, YS 5301 will tour the Mediterranean for a shakedown trip, and then move into the Atlantic Ocean in its first year, followed by next year in the Indian Ocean and Pacific. The new mothership will be equipped with a 43ft Release Game boat and a 32ft Blackfin – a boat which carries significant sentiment for the Owner. Recently repurchased and refurbished for this adventure, the Blackfin was the Owner’s first Game fishing boat purchased more than 30 years ago. The helicopter on board will provide the Owner with easy airport transfers to and from the mothership.

“What we are planning to do with the YS 5301 no one has ever done before, and I think this will set a whole new tier of adventure for future yachts people,” says Anthony Hsieh, the Owner of the Bad Company fleet. “This is a lifelong dream starting to become reality. The plans we have with the boat in future years is stunning — she will see the world! We will spend all our time on this boat to make the most of all the different luxuries and amenities she has, and we are very excited for this milestone.”

Not only is this the first of our new YS 53 range but this is also the first Yacht Support we have built that will be used exclusively as part of a sport fishing fleet and programme.
